My entire life I have been bullied for my unique style, weight and short hair. I was so used to the negativity, I found myself in one destructive relationship after another. My self-confidence was non-existent. I saw beautiful women covered with tattoos who would take pictures, and I would be envious of their confidence and pride in themselves. When I graduated from beauty school, a lot of people who doubted me, asked me, “so now what you just cut hair forever?” This did not satisfy me. I wanted to do everything but was doubtful and felt I could do so little. Fil Wathen then approached me years after a conversation we had once had, saying he wanted to build a portfolio. I was nervous, but at this point why not? I have already done so much on my own, maybe I needed to see myself through someone else's eyes for once. So I did it. This was the one thing I had always wanted to do but never felt good enough for. It was the best idea ever. I gained so much self-esteem and I found beauty in my flaws. Fil and his wife, Lisa, made me so comfortable and helped coach me through all of it. The whole shoot not only helped me with my business, but with my social anxiety, self esteem, and created a great friendship. I recommend if even just for yourself, DO IT! See the difference it will make.
